Art Happenings, Openings and Highlights

Good Evening Art Fans,

​What a fun couple of weeks it has been! I'll do my best to hit the highlights about recent happenings as well as those that are coming up soon. Here we go!!!

On Saturday 7/15, I attended Ardest Gallery's "Abstraction" opening reception. It really was my intention to slip in quietly, check out the show and leave. But, I ended up meeting the nicest people, having some laughs, great conversations and, well, I couldn't resist taking a few photos before I left. The middle of last week saw me doing something I've never done before. Conroe Art League hosts figure drawing and portrait painting groups several times a month. So, just for grins and giggles (and 50.00) I offered to be one of their models. This group looks for all kinds of body types, but since they need models to hold poses for up to 20 minutes over the course of a 3 hour period, folks with experience in yoga, dance and similar disciplines are preferred. (That's me!) It was a real joy to hang out with these artists while I offered a variety of yoga, Thai Chi and a couple of sitting poses. Doing what I enjoy while the artists do what we all love. How fun is that? The only way it could have been better would have been if I brought my pets...but you can't have everything! ;-P

When the modeling was over I took a photo of myself with the group. Then I took individual photos of each of their sketches. What I find most interesting is how each artist has a completely different take on the exact same subject matter. Isn't that cool? (See below.)
