Good Evening Art Fans,
It is no secret that this artist is a proud Texan and definitely a Gulf Coast girl. So I want to share a little taste of what this region has to offer. Art wise, we have a ton of creators in various disciplines. In addition, the amount of kindness and generosity among locals is second to none in my experience.
Case in point, I was invited to a brunch at the Brazosport Art League Gallery on Saturday, September 7th. The occasion? A celebration of appreciation for the lovely volunteers that act as docents for The Center for the Arts & Sciences. Isn't that nice? The event was catered by Swamp Shack Lake Jackson, TX. Am I a docent, yet? No. But, I was invited anyway. Again, super nice! There was an abundant amount of delicious food and wonderful people to get to know. Many of the artists from BAL generously donated art and art supplies as raffle prizes for the attendees. There were almost as many prizes as there were docents at the brunch! I was given a raffle ticket and (lucky me!) I won a beautiful set of art note cards created by Linda Strickland. (See photos below.)

After a wonderful time art BAL, I headed home to spend some quality time with my family, then back out to another event: Bluewater Market @ Stahlman Park Event Center on Surfside Beach.
Inside the event center was kind of an interesting mash-up of vendors selling home made food and others selling artisan goods...and some selling both! These are a few of my favorites...
Monday, September 9 was my very first day as Art Shop manager at the Brazosport Art League. I was so excited and nervous at the same time! Some artists were dropping off new artwork while others left their work to show for another 2 months. After curating these small works, I took a few photos (see below). I think of our section of BAL as very giftable small art pieces. Our guests are sure to find something special to take home.
We are fortunate to have so many talented artists at the BAL Art Shop. As I get to know them better, I will post information with photos about each one. In the meantime, I hope you will stop by and see the fabulous artwork created by local Texas artists. You're sure to find something you just can't live without.
